40. For as it has been written... Though our outer self is wasting away, inwardly we are being renewed day by day. For our light and momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of Glory beyond all comparison. (2 Cor. 4)

For my 40th we celebrated at our annual Fundraiser for Radiant Hope. I still sit in awe of the work God has done and where he has allowed me to have a window into it. I never thought I would see 40. Actually at the cancer diagnosis that was one thing that I mourned, the possibility of seeing more years, growing old. Why do we see growing old as such a hack when it's such a privilege. I watched over the years since women and men begrudgingly jump into the next decade of their life, moaning and groaning about being old. WHYYYY. I swore to myself that if God granted me the ability to see 40, that it would be a wild celebration of all that he has done. Each and every day is gift from above and I promised that with each new morninbg mercies, whatever may come to pass, would be met with Hope and Joy. Also since this revelation, I have watched many young, near 40, mommies and daddies leave this earth and LOTS behind. And I have been left to watch those they have left behind grieve their loss while also seeing their gain. Perspective changes everything.

God has numbered our days and so with faith and trust I will step into the next decade, Lord willing, with the same heart and purpose. Today is but a breath. But it is his breath in my lungs. I owe it all to him.
